Could never tell you what happened the day I turned se-ven-teen
The rise of a king and the fall of a queen, oh
Seventeen, se-ven-teen Thanks for the wishes, I am a happy Lizzy
My year goals are up on my bulletin board, and to quote a certain green-haired British kid, the new year is an unspoiled universe. It feels pretty good.
You know what else feels pretty good?
I'd like to announce that after approximately six years, I have been reunited with
The Extraordinary and Unusual Adventures of Horatio Lyle . I found the first book in my middle school library when I was maybe eleven, fell in love, recently remembered it, looked it up, and discovered that NOBODY HAS HEARD OF THIS BOOK. It was distressing. BUT possibly the greatest thing that happened to me today was RECEIVING A COPY OF THE FIRST TWO BOOKS IN THE SERIES, and I'm reading the first one now, and it is somehow even better than I remember - not only does it still have that sense of sweeping excitement that made it stick in my head so clearly, but as it turns out, the writing is completely hilarious. I will be able to form coherent thoughts on this once I've finished the book, but... yeah, I kind of just can't believe I'm finally holding a copy.
Second: Every time somebody wished me a happy birthday today, I responded, "You too!"
It was surprising how few people responded. One friend actually said
"Thank you". I'm no longer sure whether people are very unobservant or just very polite.

I... yeah, don't ask.
